Artist : Gai Mao Sen is a well-known painter from the Jiangsu Chinese Painting Institution.
He was born in 1941. After graduating from Nanjing Art College in 1965 with major in traditional Chinese painting, he has devoted himself to Chinese painting. Through constant practice and research, he now excels in figure and landscape paintings.
Gai Maosen made a brilliant debut in the early 1970s. In recent years, he has specialized in Chinese paintings. Gradually, he has established his own individual style. The figures in his paintings are free and easy, lifelike and vivid, poetic and graceful.
He got three consecutive awards from 1984-1987. In 1987, he was awarded for the excellence of his art works in the National Exhibition of Fine Arts paintings. He has aroused great attention at home and abroad with his paintings.
His works has been exhibited successfully in many countries such as America, Japan Italy, India, Germany, Canada, Kuwait, Poland and Hong Kong. In all these exhibitions, his works earned high praise.
His paintings are now included in the valuable collection of the China fine Arts Gallery, Nogoya Museum, Japan jiangsu Fine Arts Gallery and Tianjng Art Gallery.
Gai Maosheng held a exhibition of his paintings in 1986. He has attended provincial and national academic discussions several times. Furthermore, he was invited to Japan for a visit in 1987.
At present, Gai Maosen is a member of the Chinese Artists Association and the Chinese Arts and Crafts Institute. He is also head of figures painting group in the Jiangsu Fine Art Committee Office of the Jiangsu Chinese Painting Institution.
