Hua Tuo was born in 1940 in Hebei Province, China. Was a student of the well-known wood engraving artist Li Qun in 1959. Later, he became interested in landscape painting and took lessons from such masters as Ya Ming and Song Wenzhi. Has published a number of albums of paintings. He is a director of landscape painting department of the Jiangsu Province Art Institute, a National First Grade Artist and a member of the Artists Association of China.
