The artist He Yang was born in 1942 in Beijing and graduated from the Beijing Arts and Crafts School in 1962. He is a professional painter and a member of the Beijing Artists' Association.

He Yang started learning painting in Beijing Childrens' Palace during his childhood. At the age of 15, he began to exhibit and sell his paintings at the art gallery. Since 1978, he started his career as professional artist and teaching art in the school. His painting, The Hot Spring of The MATRIARCHAL MOSO won the first prize at the National Competition of Folk Art Paintings.

He Yang has a solid foundation in Chinese traditional culture. He strives to explore a modern form which integrates Chinese art with Western art.
