Artist Li Wen Xin was born in Sichuan Province, China in 1927. He studied at the Southwestern School of Fine Arts and the Mianshan School of Art in 1941, and later enrolled in the Jiangsu Zhengze Art College where he graduated at the end of the War of Resistance. After Liberation, he joined the research office of the Art Department of the Southwestern People's Institute of Art. From there he was transferred to the Department of Painting of the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts.

He was a professor of Sichuan Art Institue and A member of the Artists Association of China.
